Kelley, aka Katy Regnery just blew my bind with It’s You, the first installment in a paranormal duo that serves as the author’s first of what will hopefully be many more paranormal releases to come. I have been a fan of this novelist for a long time, but It’s You just bowled me over and left me a hot mess because I am irrevocably in love with these inspiring characters and this incredibly innovative story about transcendent love, massive loss and heart-breaking, life-altering secrets!!
It’s You is a cleverly written display of creative genius that has me hooked!!! Honestly it is one of the most exciting paranormal novels that I have read in years.
This author literally makes you feel the magic as you explore this mythical tale about young love that spawns an eternal, forbidden union between two teenagers from entirely different worlds. It is reminiscent of some of the themes in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet but it also has a paranormal twist on the events that are at the heart of the novel.
Fifteen-year-old Darcy Turner shares a passionate, life-changing kiss with Jacque Beauloup (aka Jack) the summer before his eighteenth birthday. The kiss ignites a fever and obsession within her that she is unable to let go of in spite of distance and time. It is all-consuming and results in a supernatural connection that changes both of their lives forever due to Jack’s mystical heritage. Her heart shatters into a million pieces when he disappears the next day without a trace, seemingly severing what she was initially sure was an eternal bond between them.

Also, the amount of research that the author put into this book is mind-boggling. Ms. Regnery immersed me in an entirely new world ripe with customs that ensnared me and catalyzed a fascination with this book that I will never escape from! For instance, the French language is prevalent throughout this novel and the attention to the Métis people and the culture that the novel presents is a masterful example of epic storytelling that is captivating, enthralling and magnetic in is power.
This book gave me butterflies and goosebumps. It made me smile and elicited tears. It’s You warmed me like a comforting cup of hot tea on a chilly day at the same time that it consumed me with worry for Jack and Darcy’s predicament.
I want to be absolutely clear: Katy Regnery is this like this bookworm’s fairy godmother; she waved her magic wand with It’s You and left me awed and amazed by the enchanting effect of her words.
There is a stunning cliffhanger that left me saddened beyond belief, but that is only because my unquenchable thirst for this amazing novel was left unsatisfied. YES!!!! I am waiting with bated breath for the part two of the series!
When it comes to paranormal romance this is where it is at, because It’s You is one of my best reads of 2016.
