“Do I betray my family, or do I betray the woman that I love? ~Julian

Willa Thorne’s A Sacred Vow is a stroke of brilliance that blew me away.

Paranormal romance is my first love.   Novels like A Sacred Vow epitomize the reason that my love affair with this genre will remain eternal, constant and unending like the vampire hero at the forefront of this wonderfully entertaining read.

My god. 😍

This novel thrilled me, possessed me and had me enraptured from the very first chapter.

A Sacred Vow personifies the meaning of the phrase “forbidden love.”

An ancient feud between humans and vampires caused sexy vampire Julian Deveraux to swear to end the Cormac bloodline.   He made a vow, a solemn promise to wipe every single descendant of the human family of hunters that had stalked and murdered his family for decades off of the face of the earth.

After years of murder and mayhem, he finally accomplished his task…or so he thought.

Enter Aurelia Galligan, a recent college graduate who has no idea that the birthmark that she bears on her shoulder has made her a sworn enemy of a clan of vampires and essentially marked her for death.

A Sacred Vow has a magical element to it that bewitched me.  The first meeting between Julian and Aurelia is electric. The author does a fabulous job capturing the allure of mystery and intrigue that surrounds Julian as they meet for the first time.

Their connection is instant, wild and uncontrollable.

“Each time I gave him a side glance, his eyes remained on me unapologetically. I felt invaded, yet thrilled at the same time. Hauntingly handsome in all of the right ways, although I was perplexed and intimidated by the way that he watched me.” ~Lia

“I never knew two strangers could have such exquisite chemistry, but when his mouth touched me, I swear a spark ignited within my heart. It was surreal and explosive.” ~Lia

“The longer I spent with her, the stronger her delicious aroma welcomed me-she smelled like all the sordid, forbidden things I wanted to do to her, but in doing so, I had become a monster.” ~Julian

Willa Thorne’s writing is incredible.  One of the things that I enjoyed the most about this novel was the way that the author uses metaphors concerning the nature of vampirism to add to the depth of the plot and enhance the characterization.

Here are a few morsels from the book to illustrate my point:

“He finally turned and fixed me with a stare that sucked in my soul, and my breath caught as he held me with that single, silent stare.” ~Lia

“His eyes sucked me in, holding me in a frozen trance. I loved every second of it.” ~Lia

“Her glare was enough to stake me.” ~ Julian

The depth of the connection between these characters is staggering and hypnotic.

It is a true testament to the powerful manner in which Willa Thorne manages to weave an intricate web of supernatural love that stems from an otherworldly union of two hearts and souls.

” I knew this woman possessed such a hold on me, and I began to wonder who was the more powerful between us: me, a man who’d walked this earth as a vampire for over two hundred years, or this human woman who has only been alive for some twenty-something years.” ~Julian

“I never felt desire like this, to be wanted or even loved at the  magnitude Julian loved me.  It was overwhelming. As his mouth enveloped mine, I pressed harder, wanting more.” ~Lia

“I was Lia’s Julian. And she was mine.  I’d fight for this w0man. I’d kill for this woman. She unleashed the beast within me, yet tamed my demons all at the same time. That’s incredible power, and I couldn’t help but admire her quiet strength.” ~Julian

Sigh. 😍😍

The dark, sensual tone of this novel reminded me of one of my all time favorite authors and her epic, notoriously popular series of of books called The Vampire Chronicles.

YES.  It is just that good. 👏🏼👏🏼

If you love paranormal romance as much as I do then you don’t want to miss out on this one.

Please read this book.  I know that you will love it just as much as I did.

That is my final word.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Heat: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I swore a solemn oath that saw to the end of the Cormacs, a family of hunters that persistently sought to rid my coven’s existence.

For years we have lived in the shadows, free from hunters and the weapons of wood that could destroy us.

But the familiar scent of Cormac blood is awakening my senses. We were certain that we had ended the bloodline. Now, the vow I swore plagues my mind. The guilt I harbour buries deep. The desire and lust burns.

My pledge to my family is now a promise to protect the woman I love.

Aurelia Galligan is a descendant of the Cormac bloodline. I should drain her. I have to destroy her. But she may just end me.

**This is a forbidden romance between the hunter and the hunted. It features smoldering vampires and no cliffhangers. The content is not suitable for readers under the age of 18.**
