Review: The Arrogant Architect

Oh my GAWD ya’ll!

LK Collins just slayed me!

I.E. Owned! Addicted! Hooked!

This was my first experience with LK Collins as an author, but based off of my experience with The Arrogant Architect it certainly won’t be the last.

All I can say is that this novel had me GONE from the first few chapters!

In the first 20% of the book I cried.   I was downright saddened for the heroine and her emotional predicament due to a tragic loss of someone near and dear to her heart. Somehow in the very next chapter LK Collins managed to have me crying for a different reason: I was straight up howling laughing to the point of tears. 😂

The novel tells the story of Everly Adams and Kinglsey Lennox (Ever and King for short ). It chronicles the delightful, turbulent sojourn that two troubled individuals experience as they take a journey that explores the course of a love-hate relationship.

At the heart of the novel is Ever, a feisty, sassy, no holds-barred, take charge kind of woman with a dirty mouth that would make a sailor’s head spin around and around like what we saw in the Exorcist. 😈

I loved her immediately. 😁😂😂

Enter King: the handsome, accomplished and wealthy architectural business mogul who spearheads a multi-million dollar restoration project next door to Ever’s apartment.

Things jump off quickly between these two.

Ever does not appreciate the ear-splitting noise level associated with King’s project next door and she is determined to let him know it.  When she confronts him and demands that he bring the noise down a notch her filthy mouth is truly something to behold.  This is where the novel turns into straight up romantic comedy full of laughs and witty dialogue.

As the story progresses the reader witnesses the relationship between Ever and King develop into something full of emotion, passionate interaction and most importantly, love.

Now don’t get me wrong; this book is not all about the good times. Ever and King certainly have their work cut out for them since both of them have personal issues in their backgrounds and negative personality traits that affect their behavior toward each other as they develop a relationship.

Ever is stubborn, impetuous and her smart mouth causes her both personal and professional turmoil in the novel. At times it seems as if she jumped the gun and got irrationally angry with King prematurely; however, there is a deep seeded reason for her actions. Her character truly is an onion with many layers that must be peeled back and investigated in order to ferret out the true source of her behavior.

Trust me: I loved Ever but King really did it for me.  😍

This man is highly intelligent, ambitious and sexy as hell…not necessarily in that order.😉 King is also sweet, overly considerate and loyal but his controlling ways, extreme conceit and penchant to throw money around to get himself out of sticky situations was off-putting at many points throughout the story.  One of the book’s greatest feats is that we witness King’s odyssey from self centered egoism and narcissism to putting someone else and their wants, needs and desires first.  King learns that money can not buy him love;  instead, he discovers that he must invest the same hard work, sacrifice and dedication into his relationship with Everly that he has put into his business empire if he expects his union with Ever to work on a long term basis.

Let me keep it real: above all else, this novel is about emotional growth, letting go of the past and pursing professional and romantic dreams.   There are points in this novel that feel like an idealistic romance full of hot sex and fantasy vacations.  On the other side of the coin there are other moments that make you question if King and Ever should just let each other go move on to greener pastures.

Don’t fret:  it is this very journey that make The Arrogant Architect truly worth the read.

I recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys a highly stimulating erotic romance with trials and tribulations along the way that culminate in an enjoyable, satisfying conclusion.

HEAT: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
